NEWS FROM THE PRESIDENT
The New Construction Rule L Works!
Our very first experience was a complete success - case in point, Annette Humble. Annette followed our new Rule L. She obtained a construction application from Lee Martin, filled it out, signed and dated it, and returned it to Lee. Annette then had her plans drawn up and Lee reviewed them for compliance with our setbacks and height provisions. Lee determined that the plans were, in fact, compliant and Lee, Dunie, and I went down to the local Construction Authority for the permit. ( I happened to be in camp and since this was the first one, well I couldn’t resist.)
The county engineer reviewed and approved the plans for compliance with county regulations and for compliance with our camp Rule L - how about that! Compliance with the law not only keeps the corporation (The Shareholders) from being fined for undocumented construction and protects our shareholders from possible demolition of their construction, but also provides enforcement of our camp Rule L. Just what the shareholders asked of the board in October 2004 and exactly how our attorney said it would work in his legal opinion (see Oct 2005 SH minutes).
After a brief meeting, the county engineer asked Lee and I (since I was there) to sign the plans and we were on our way. Annette built her house and is now enjoying the fruits of her project!
